Litha also known as "Midsummer" is a Pagan holiday that occurs on the summer solstice each year. Litha is a commemoration for the beginning of summer and the longest day of the year. It is on this day that it is believed the battle between light and dark take place. The Oak King, who represents the daylight rules from the Winter Solstice, also known as Yule, till Litha. It is on this day that the Holly King wins and the days progressively get darker until Yule of next year.
During Litha, followers focus their intentions on inner power and spreading "brightness". Some people may find a quiet spot to meditate while others spend it outside appreciating the nature. The traditional celebration includes holding a fire ritual which consists of bonfires or setting wheels on fire and rolling them into bodies of water. Litha is a time to embrace the light within the world and to practice love.
